Death Metal by EXHUMATION deserves the term „classical“: It is sinister, clanging and evil. The Eastern Asian roots are undeniable, but now the music is darker than ever before.
The album offers an improved sound quality and reminds the listener of the legendary MAYHEM line-up, early DEICIDE or the occult songs of UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN.
Modern metal tends to go ways not everyone is fond of. But change is not always equal to more progression or mixing of genres.
Now EXHUMATION’s second opus is ready, and it is colder and more pitiless than the first release. Still it relies on its Eastern Asian roots; but now they are buried underneath a thick layer of classical Death Metal which has an uncanny resemblance to the Black Metal of the late 80s.

Der Death Metal von EXHUMATION kann im besten Sinne als klassisch bezeichnet werden: Finster, hallend und böse. Die ostasiatische Herkunft bleibt unleugbar, aber die Musik ist noch eine Klasse dunkler geworden.
Das Album mit verbesserter Klangqualität erinnert in ihrem Wahn an MAYHEM in Bestbesetzung, und in Ausführung und Okkultismus an frühe DEICIDE und UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN.
Entwicklungen im modernen Metal kann man mögen, muss man aber nicht. Doch: Veränderung muss nicht zwangsweise mehr Progression oder Genremixerei bedeuten.
EXHUMATION legen nun ihr zweites Release vor; kälter und erbarmungsloser als der Vorgänger. Immer noch kann man die fernöstlichen Wurzeln spüren, doch liegen sie tief begraben unter einer massiven Schicht klassischen Death Metals, der seine Verwandtschaft zum Black Metal der späten 80er nicht leugnen kann.

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once.....

An astonishingly heavy offering of cosmic, death-tinged technical thrash metal. A lot of tech thrash forgoes meat and aggression for diddly-diddly limpwristed tech licks but holy shit this is brutal. At points it’s like Demolition Hammer in a UFO. Easily the best modern thrash record out there.
